Autumn is foreplay. It's the time of year to fall in love.

It's the season which seduces and inspires you to be joyful, care free and thankful for what life offers. This season brings mystery, magic and romance.  Heck, Halloween wouldn't be right in any other time of year. Would it?

Remember when you stood face to face with your lover and there was only the space of a fallen maple leaf between you ? Do you remember looking into their eyes then tracing your finger down the side of their cheek while devouring their lips with your eyes? Do you remember when gravity became so powerful it pulled you in for the slow, deep kiss? Well, Autumn is the moment right before you give in. It's the dance that leads to Wintercourse.

Everything about this time of year is sensual. The spices, hot cocoa's, rich stews, creamy casseroles, cashmere sweaters, wooly socks, they all make you feel good. They warm you up on the inside and the outside. The colors of the flowers and trees massage your eyes. Everything is slowed down and ripe for enjoyment. The air is crisp, not too hot, not too cold. It's just...........right.

Fireplaces are brought alive and logs of wood smolder  into a burnt orange providing light and heat while you cuddle and tell stories of the past, plan the future, and enjoy the moment of right now. Every hedonists revels in this time of year snuggling under blankets while whispering sweet something's into the ear of their loved one. Gravity becomes dyslexic and everything that is down, must come up. ;o)

In the area where I live, especially the rural areas the beauty this time of year reminds me of places that belong in fairy tales. Lord, knows I love fairy tales.  This time of year is perfect for taking walks and gathering treasures before the hibernation of winter. It's the final harvest of the year.  It's the time to celebrate life and another year with the people we love.

If you aren't enjoying the harvest of fall, then maybe you could call on Dionysus the God who inspires joyful worship and ecstasy. According to the legend it's his divine mission to bring an end to care and worries. What are you waiting for? This call's free.

I have never seen Autumn painted so vividly before!  And I was always partial to it (having my birthday during the time).

I guess you made me realize more how special the time is!  Thanks

I love autumn.  The deep vibrant colors really move me...(probably why my house is done in reds, rusts, sage greens, heh).

Lovely article Kelly.  Beautifully written.

Thanks Dr. Guy and a Happy Birthday to you.

Thank you!  And yours is coming up soon as well, is it not?  My mind is kind of fuzzy, but I seem to recall you are a fall baby as well (if not, please forgive my aging gray cells)

You  have a great memory Dr. Guy. I'm October 28th. I'm trying to forget about them the older I get!

Tonya, I have the same colors in my house. We had to put in a window because of the dark reds!! I love it.

Well an early Happy birthday to you!  (since I will be away for it).

And just do as my wife does (I guess I am robbing the cradle now).  She and her sisters stopped aging at 39 (there are 4 of them now piled up at that age ).

But she still wants a birthday dinner date and present!  She is just celebrating anniversaries of her 39th.
