Behave so the aroma of your actions may enhance the general sweetnessof the atmosphere. Henry David Thoreau
Fried Chicken. Mmmm. is there any other smell that wakes up all of yoursenses? Whenever I pop into the grocery store and they are frying up chicken, Ihave to stop. I close my eyes and savor the moment. Life is good. So verygood. Then my next thought is almost always, they should make perfume ofthis stuff. Then my rational thinking kicks in. If it were a perfume, ...

People talk. People chat. People bitch. People surprise. Peopleconfess. People whine. I hear.
I hear about 20 conversations a day at my work. That's because where I workis an open area with tables all around. People forget I'm there, or don't careand talk away. Some conversations tickle me. Some shock me. Some entertainme. Some piss me off. Some make me tune out.
Today, was the first time I heard a conversation pertaining to someone I knowand their job. I'm not quite sure what ...
There is an older lady who is a regular Friday customer. She comes in andgets coffee and a slice of bread. We chat and she tells me what is goingon in her life and I tell her my weekly story. Every now and again she hasan old school saying. This past Friday, she looked out one of the windows andsaid, "There is enough blue in the sky to make a pair of pants. It's gonnabe a good day." I cock my head and look at her. What a great saying. Idon't understand it, but I love it. To top it off I have n...
This past week my town, Spokane, hosted the 2007 National Figure SkatingChampionships. It has been in the planning for 3 years. Even though we arethe smallest town to ever host this particular event not only were previousticket sales broken, they were shattered. It went well and I had thepleasure to attend most of the events and the final show of champions
My mother-in-law and I received tickets for Christmas. Now, I don't reallyknow any of the skaters, but I am a big fan of live ...
I do love my comfort zone.
Yesterday we were blessed with 6 to 8 inches of fresh powder on the mountain.Off we went. This is good and bad. I usually like my ski runs the way I like mymen. Groomed.
We went on some of our regular runs and the powder was moderate, so I gave ita shot and I did pretty good. I had to lean back a little bit more to keep mytips up, which is unnatural to me, but it worked. I was flying and having agreat time. So after lunch, my husband decided to take me to a run...
There is this man I see every where around town. I see him at the grocerystore, my work, the library. I even saw him riding his bike at dark one timewhen I was at a part of town I don't get to often. I even saw him up on themountain. I feel like I am playing a living, "Where's Waldo"!
For me it really isn't Christmas until I have watched, "A Smoky MountainChristmas", starring Dolly Parton. I know it is cheesy, but I am a suckerfor a happy ending. Call me a PollyAnna. Call me Mellow Yellow. Ca...
Until I get my writing mojo back this is the kind of blog I am going towrite.
Right before Thanksgiving I finished the book by Steven King, Lisey's Story.I took it on my trip for some light reading. hehe. I remember hearing allthe interviews and reading the book reviews on how this was a love story. Thereis definitely a love story in there under all the boogie men and evil spiritsroaming around in Booya Moon.
It was kind of a full circle moment of sorts because the first novel I everre...
I don't iron. Any ironing that I need is either done by my dryer or mysister. I can't do it and I hate it!
One of my favorite things about Kauai was the chickens that roam the island. The native chicken is beautiful and looks exactly like the Kellogg Corn Flakeschicken but with gorgeous fall colors. There are other chickens that roam theisland as well. Apparently, their fun-loving Philippino friends brought otherchickens to the island to do a little cockfighting. When a hurricane comes theyru...
When I was little my parents would go out on Friday nights and leave me andmy sister alone with Tom Jones. The weekly show that is. After my parents leftwe would raid my moms lingerie drawer and find the best slip for go-go dancing.I liked the red one, my sister liked the white one. Next we would put on thegogo boots that were made for walking. The final touch for this groovy outfitwas a long beach towel acting as our Cher length hair. Then it was on top of thecoffee table to dance the hour away...
I know I live in the west, but I don't live in the wild, wildwest. Last week my husband and I went to the car wash. While I was washing thetruck my husband went to get more quarters. I saw him talking to someone andbeing nosey I peeked to see who it was. It was a father of a boy my son playedfootball with. When I went over to say hi I noticed something under his truck. It was a deer head! No body, just a deer head. Yuck. He had just come back fromhunting and was washing the truck and I suppose wa...
