Water cooler news: I don't really work in an office with a water cooler but we have a popular table with a small gold plaque on the rim which says "Kenny's Table". Every now and again someone will ask what they have to do to get their name on a table. Unfortunately, you have to die.
March Madness is here and we have 2 teams going to the dance. Gonzaga is ranked #7 in the Midwest bracket, but if you ask Lees, a very tall and skinny septuagenarian with a full head of white hair he will tell you they will lose in the first round. According to him they have been playing really bad and he knows why, but he can't tell me. It is all very cloak and dagger.
Then we have the WSU Cougars ranked #4 in the East bracket. Coach Tony Bennett, not the singing Tony Bennett is at the helm of this team and he is really hot. You should check him out.
The whole town is filled with pride while filling out their brackets, but not for gambling purposes.
Last weekend we celebrated my youngest sons birthday in N. Idaho at a place called Raptor Reef, an inside water park. While the kids and my husband were waiting in this crazy long line to go down the big toilet bowl slide I saw a man in the deep end of the wave pool have a heart attack. Well, it turns out he wasn't having a heart attack, but an asthma attack.
The head lifeguard who was about 19 years old and looked like he was straight out of first aid class handled the situation beautifully. I was impressed by his grace and skill. That and the guys wife came running with an inhaler.
On the way home we had to stop at Cabelas. The boys were really happy to hear that. It's like a mini destination place for outdoor lovers. While my husband was shopping we went to the shooting gallery. It is so cool with all the targets including a growling bear, slithering snake, breaking windows and a whole slew of other exciting targets.
The place was starting to get busy and the shooting range was filling up. A young mom came up in between my son and his friend to take her turn. She hiked up her daughter on her right hip and picked up the rifle with her left hand, shut one eye then started shoting. This modern day Annie Oakley was shooting up the range. All jaws dropped at this cowgirls rifle skills. Welcome to the wild west JU!
In May there is an annual women helping women luncheon I would love to attend. Each year they have an exciting key note speaker who embraces the spirit of women helping women. This year's speaker is Jeanette Walls, author of, "The Glass Castle". I haven't read the book yet, but I'm told it is very good and will strike a chord with anyone growing up in similar circumstances.
Finally, this Easter we are going to have a picnic at the land we just bought. It is our little slice of heaven and we can't wait for the "someday" when we can build. Here is the view from the top of our lot
